GreenWise is a wholly-owned product of the Sixty Mile Publishing Co Ltd.
GreenWise launched in October 2008 in response to the rapidly expanding UK low carbon economy and the growing need for UK businesses to adopt an environmental policy and reduce their carbon emissions and energy use.
Under the Climate Change Act 2008, the UK has set itself a target to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050 and a 34 per cent reduction (on 1990 levels) by 2020.
Much like health and safety, a green policy is becoming a legislative matter for businesses. By April 2010, all large organisations in the UK will have to comply with the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, a mandatory emissions trading scheme to ensure the UK meets its emission targets.
By 2012, it is expected that most – if not all – UK businesses will be obliged to report their carbon emissions.
